Perfect Looking You.

Back then in high school I used to be teased about my height. My friends back then would say words like "Tolu, you're short", "when will you grow tall?" They would say, "she didn't eat beans while growing up that's why she's short".

I never thought I was short until my friends back then in high school began to tease me about it and I started to believe it. I then started to wish I wasn't short. The tease went on and on and on a particular day, I said to one of my friends as she teased me, "I'm not short, I'm of average height" and then my friend burst out in laughter and said, "if you're of average height, what should I call myself?" I felt that was true though.

So, I took it to God in prayer because I knew there's nothing of which God cannot do. Anything the Sovereign One cannot do does not exist. My prayer point was, "God, increase my height. I want to be taller". The prayer went on for a while and then… good news!! No, it's not what you think. He didn't increase my height but... but He made me love myself just the way I am.

I stopped feeling intimidated about my height. I mean, I'm beautiful and wonderfully made by God. My height is just perfect I said to myself.

If God wanted me to be tall, I definitely would be tall.

Just like my experience, many women out there have been told one or two things about their body type, height, hair or complexion. Even you reading this right now. 

You might have been told your eyes are too big or too sunken. You might have been told your head is big or your forehead is too big or your lips are big or your legs are big. You might have been told you're not beautiful and too ugly for their liking. You might have been told you don't fit in the league because you don't have a flat tommy with their eye balls rolled in and out expressing disgust. But you know what, you're uniquely beautiful and perfect just the way you are.

There is no two of you on earth. Just you and your special kind of beauty.

I'm not trying to cajole you into believing what is not, but I'm telling you the truth as it is written.

Psalms 139:14

"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."

Your countenance and body type reflects the divine craftsmanship of the Creator, each feature crafted with meticulous care, love and grace.

Genesis 1:26

"Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

You were created according to the likeness of God.

You're uniquely and amazingly beautiful.

Don't give in to the lies of the devil. He wants to flood your mind with lies.

Look at yourself in the mirror of the word of God. Let the word of God be your mirror.

Like I found and loved myself the way I am, God can help you find and love yourself too. He looks down from above and wishes in His heart that you would love yourself the way you are. He wants to help you find yourself and appreciate yourself and His good work. 

Build up your relationship with God. Nurture it until it comes to that point where the opinion of others doesn't matter but what God says. That is the only way you can truly love and appreciate yourself. God is love. You will naturally know to love yourself and others when you know Him.

You are beautiful, your worth is far above rubies.
